Sales Data Collection Methodology
Collection Timeline
Our data collection methodology has evolved through several versions:
| Period | Version | Method | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feb 1, 2021 - Jun 30, 2022 | v1 | Suspected sales validated by marketplace API | Initial implementation |
| Jul 1, 2022 - Jan 21, 2025 | v2 | Combination Learning Algo & Criteria Analysis | |
| Jan 22, 2025 - Aug 27, 2025 | v3 | Sales Reported By Marketplace | Enhanced quantity inference capabilities |
| Aug 28, 2025 - Present | v3.5 | Sales Reported By Marketplace | Improved quantity inference where marketplace data permits |
Current Methodology (V3.5)
The current algorithm gathers sales reported by the marketplace. See Limitations for details on this methodology's limitations.
Data Collection
- Uptime: ~99% since early 2021
- Update frequency: Near real-time capture with < 5 minute scans for the most active events and up to 4 hours for events with little to no activity.
- Geographic coverage: Most Countries
Limitations
The current methodology's known limitations are listed below.
- Individual seat numbers are not tracked
- The quantity or price reported by the marketplace may be incomplete. In such cases, our systems may use past data to infer the quantity sold on a sale, or past pricing data to infer the sale price. If the quantity data is unavailable, it is reported as quantity "0". If a specific sale price is unavailable, it will be reported using the last known price of the listing. In these cases, this can result in recorded prices that appear unusually high or low. Users should apply reasonable judgment when encountering outlier prices.
- Rapid changes occurring between observations may be missed
